Option Selection
Phase 2 Option Selection is now completed. The purpose of this phase was to examine feasible alternatives and options to address the transport problems identified during Phase 1 and to carry out a systematic assessment of these with a view to selecting a preferred transport solution which will form the basis for the design to be undertaken during Phase 3. The Preferred Transport Solution was on Public Display in May 2022. A copy of all of the display material presented is available here.
These Alternatives and Options were on public display as part of Public Consultation No. 2 which took place from the 25 June 2021 to the 6 August 2021.
Since the conclusion of Public Consultation No. 2 on Alternatives and Options, the design team have reviewed the submissions received and completed their detailed appraisal of the Alternatives and Options, using a multicriteria analysis under the headings of Safety, Economy, Environment, Accessibility and Social Inclusion, Integration and Physical Activity and selected a Preferred Transport Solution to deliver a reliable and sustainable transport solution for the section of the N24 corridor under consideration. The Preferred Transport Solution includes a combination of active travel measures for walking and cycling, improvements to public transport, demand management measures along with new and improved road infrastructure for the communities along the N24 transport corridor from west of Brooks Bridge in County Limerick to Cahir in County Tipperary.
The Preferred Transport Solution was on Public Display on Tuesday 24 May 2022 and again on Thursday 26 May 2022 from 1pm until 8pm at the Great National Ballykisteen Golf Hotel where members of the design team were available to answer any questions. Thereafter, the display material will be available to view at Tipperary County Council Offices, Rosanna Road, Tipperary, E34 WD51; Cappamore Library & Art Studios, Gortnascarry, Cappamore, Co. Limerick, V94 C6X4; and Cahir Library, The Square, Cahir, Co. Tipperary, E21 WD89 from 27 May to 17 June 2022.
